How to download a Twitch clip or stream VOD

Twitch keeps past broadcasts for a limited time: 7 days for most channels, up to 60 for partners and Turbo or Prime users. After that the recording is gone for good, so save it while it is still available.

Step by step

  1. 1

Open the clip or past broadcast on twitch.tv and copy the address from the browser bar (for a clip: Share → Copy).

  2. 2

Paste the link into Top Video Downloader and click Check formats.

  3. 3

Pick a quality. For a stream that runs for hours, consider 720p or Audio only; the file gets much smaller.

  4. 4

Click Add to queue. Long recordings take a while, and progress shows in the queue.

Which links work

  • clips.twitch.tv/… or twitch.tv/channel/clip/… — a clip
